MISB is authorised to offer the IBDP programme(see http://www.ibo.org/en/school/003291) together with the cambridge and national curriculum, providing all our students with a globally-recognised, reassuringly independent, and seamless route to success – both in and out of the classroom.
Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfill their potential.
Children develop quickly in the early years and a child’s experiences between birth and age five have a major impact on their future life chances.
A secure, safe and happy childhood is important in its own right. Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.
We have combined the positive points of different methods and defined it as a Developmental Curriculum.
Firstly, we have structured our classroom with different learning areas where children can work individually or with a partner. We patterned it from the different Montessori areas. Secondly, we are using Montessori Method in teaching the concepts or skills to the children. Thirdly, we are using Brigance Assessment, an American developmental tool that is used to identify the child’s strengths and weakness in language, motor, self-emotional and cognitive skills.
Primary School (Grade 1-5)
Cambridge Primary, typically for 5-11 year olds, gives the school a curriculum framework to develop English, Mathematics, and Science skills, knowledge, and understanding. The school is adopting the National Indonesian Curriculum which is thematic in nature and integrates the following subjects – Bahasa Indonesia, PKN, IPA, IPS and Matematika.Specialty subjects which are offered on a bi-weekly basis include Art, Music, Computer, and Physical Education; these may be taught both in English and Bahasa Indonesia. Mandarin is taught as a foreign language in all levels.
Classroom learning is enriched by semestral fieldtrips, the Grade 6 students’ annual Community Study Week, curricular and co-curricular activities.
