The Yayasan Perkembangan Anak Indonesia opened Sunshine Preschool in Jalan Lamandau, Kebayoran Baru with 7 students. The Yayasan ladies were the first teachers in the preschool. Sunshine Preschool changed its name to Mentari Preschool in the year 2000.
Sekolah Mentari Montessori opened its doors to its first group of Grade 1 students in Jalan Ophir, Kebayoran Baru. The elementary school started with 12 students with the Montessori method as its primary method of teaching the different subject areas in the curriculum.
Sekolah Mentari Elementary moved to its present address in Jalan Haji Jian, Cipete Utara. From the first 12 students in Jalan Ophir the school population grew to 60 students (Grade 1 to Grade 3) and a new grade level was added every year thereafter.
Sunflower Preschool, a franchise of the Yayasan Perkembangan Anak Indonesia, was established in the Bintaro area with 8 students. It has since grown to become a popular preschool in Bintaro.
Sekolah Mentari Jakarta changed its name to Mentari International School Jakarta (MISJ) and opened its Junior High in the Cipete campus with 25 students. A year after its opening, MISJ Junior High applied to become an IB candidate school using the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
Sekolah Mentari Citra was established in the Bintaro area. It started with 24 Grade 1 students in a little house in Jalan Mertilang.
Sekolah Mentari Citra was moved to a bigger campus in Jl. Perigi Baru with classes for Grade 1 to Grade 3; subsequently a new grade level was added every year.
MISJ Junior High became an authorized IB school offering the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP)
Sekolah Mentari Citra, now called Mentari International School Bintaro (MISB) graduated the first batch of grade six students. MISB also opened its Junior and Senior High departments. During this time MISB applied to become a Cambridge International Examination Centre. The growth of the school has been remarkable; and after 9 years, the current enrolment in the junior and senior high school is now more than 500 students.
The Yayasan Perkembangan Anak Indonesia worked together with another group to form Yayasan Cemerlang Anak Mentari Indonesia to establish Sekolah Mentari Grand Surya in the west Jakarta area. The school started with 165 students in the preschool and elementary school (Grades 1 to 3). The elementary follows the Cambridge International Curriculum and the National Curriculum
MISJ had its first moving up ceremony for Grade 10, the culminating activity for the first group of MYP students
MISB conducted its first A Level Exams and National Examinations for Senior High School. Year 2011 marked history as we held the First High School Commencement Exercises of MISB Senior High.

MISB adopted the Cambridge International Primary Program (CIPP) curriculum. At the same time, MISB’s grade 9 first national examinations took place.
MISB Elementary became a Cambridge Center for Primary Education
MISB Senior High became an IB World School offering the Diploma Programme (DP) for Grades 11 & 12
Sekolah Mentari Grand Surya graduated the first group of Grade 6. On the same year, the school opened the Junior High department with 28 students following the Cambridge curriculum and the National Curriculum
MISB and MISJ were granted SPK Status (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) by the Ministry of Education to offer an International Program blended with the National Curriculum
MISJ Elementary was authorized to offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for Grades 1-5
MISJ Senior High was authorized to offer the IB Diploma Programme (DP) for Grades 11-12
MISB had their very First IB Diploma Examinations and has set an improved record of passing marks every year thereafter
MISJ Senior High was granted SPK status (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) by the Ministry of Education to offer an international program blended with the national curriculum
MIS Grand Surya opens its Senior High with 20 students following the Cambridge curriculum and the National Curriculum
Graduation of MISJ’s first batch of high school students, the students completed the IB Diploma Programme with 100% passing
