Mentari Intercultural School Grand Surya Senior High uses the Cambridge Secondary Two and Cambridge Advanced Curriculum enriched with the revised National Curriculum of Indonesia. It is competency based program where learning is focused on developing and providing skills and knowledge that will enable the individual to survive in a changing, challenging, unpredictable, and complicated world.
Students in Grade 10 study the second year of the IGCSE programme. Cambridge Secondary 2 builds on the foundation of Cambridge Secondary 1 and is typically for learners aged 14 to 16 years.
Students sit their IGCSE at the end of grade 10. The Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular nternational qualifications for 14 to 16 years old. It helps improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving. Students do not only get knowledge but they also learn to analyse it, to apply it in given situations and to evaluate their results.
Cambridge also takes into account differing abilities by offering Core and Extended curriculum papers in some subjects. The Core curriculum is within the ability range of a large majority of students. It provides a full overview of the subject and is targeted at students expected to achieve grades C to G. The extended curriculum has been designed for the more academically able. It is targeted at those expected to achieve grades A* to E.
Students in Grade 11 & 12 follow the Cambridge Advanced programme. Cambridge Advanced is typically for learners aged 16 to 19 years who need advanced study to prepare for university and higher education. Cambridge International AS & A Level develops learners’ knowledge, understanding and skills in:

logically and clearly • Working and communicating in English Learners use Cambridge International AS & A Levels to gain places at leading universities worldwide including the UK, Australia, the USA, Malaysia and Singapore. These qualifications are also recognised in leading Indonesian universities such as Universitas Indonesia or Universitas Gajah Mada.
Cambridge IGCSE encourages learner-centred and enquiry-based approaches to learning. It develops learners' skills in creative thinking, enquiry and problem solving, giving learners excellent preparation for the next stage in their education. Schools can build a core curriculum, extend it to suit their learners and introduce cross-curricular perspectives. Clearly defined learning outcomes and content, mean Cambridge IGCSE is compatible with other curricula and is internationally relevant and sensitive to different needs and cultures.
The subjects Civics (PPKn), Bahasa Indonesia dan Sastra, P.E. and Religion are taught in Bahasa Indonesia. IPA and Matematika courses are added to start preparing the students for the National Examination at the end of Grade 9. As the students reach Grade 9, the Cambridge IGCSE Curriculum is introduced. It is a two-year program in preparation for the international curriculum for the Senior High School.
